Georgia Shakespeare PLAYMAKERS
Grades 6-9
A new class for middle schoolers! Create your own play through improvisation, games, and theatre exercises, and then perform it for an audience! Working as an ensemble, this group of 6th-9th graders will create an original piece, working both as playwrights - or playmakers - then as actors. The work will be guided by one of Shakespeare's own zany comedies, tied to a theme selected by the ensemble, and presented through the eyes of the group and their real life teen experiences. Improv, movement, poetry, music, and scripted scenes created by the PLAYMAKERS will be part of the final presentation, making THE PLAY THE THING!
When: Saturdays, February 6 - April 10, 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Cost: $175 (NO CLASS February 20 or April 3)
Instructor: Angie Harrell (click here to read Angie's bio) |

The Shakespeare Connection*
Grades 9-12
Class members focus on two of Shakespeare's plays, one comedy and one tragedy, and connect to the themes and characters through modern acting, movement, and song styles. Based on the chosen plays, the ensemble works together to create an original performance piece through the group's unique and personal perspective, and puts Shakespeare's words into action! The final performance is presented in the evening on Georgia Shakespeare's mainstage.
*This class is offered each spring, but requires the pre-requisite of Shakes, Rattle, and Role! or The High School Conservatory
When: Saturdays, February 6 - April 10, 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
