Bard’s Best!
featuring Heroines, Fools and Minstrels
This year’s assortment features a delightful collection of the Bard’s most endearing and enduring heroines, fools, and balladeers. Rosalind from As You Like It, Viola from Twelfth Night, and Imogen from Cymbeline will be featured as the heroines. The Bard’s great fools, including Lear’s fool and the irrepressible Touchstone will “vent their folly.” Shakespeare’s many songs - notably selections from Twelfth Night, Othello, and The Tempest - will be a part of the show making this year’s production a feast of love, laughter, and song!
American Tall Tales
featuring Mark Twain
The tales, stories and anecdotes of the legendary humorist Samuel Clemens pen name Mark Twain will be featured this year as we continue to explore the depth and greatness of America’s foremost writers. Hailed by William Faulkner as the “father of American literature” this offering will focus on Twain’s classic stories The Jumping Frogs of Calaveras County, and selections from the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn as well as his numerous anecdotes and humorous reflections. Each member of the ensemble will “play” Twain helping to bring the irascible author to life.
The Legend of the Sword in the Stone
Based on the book The Once and Future King by T.H. White, this re-telling of the Arthurian legend will trace the development of the awkward youth Wart, who through the tutelage and friendship of the wizard Merlin becomes King Arthur, ruler of all England. Magic and mischief will abound in this fast- paced adaptation that will feature stage combat sequences and many of the other unforgettable characters of the legend including: Sir Pellinore, Madam Mimand, and the Questing Beast!
Global Celebrations: Holidays of Light!
This collection of stories, traditions and customs focuses on the origins of holiday traditions from Europe, Africa, Asia and Central America and how those traditions are passed down from generation to generation. The common fabric in these customs is the use of light as part of the celebration. Festive songs, colorful costumes and dance will be a large part of a presentation guaranteed to warm the holiday heart.
